I have been a little slow at getting our Boston trip on the blog. I want to figure out a way to make a slide show out of all of our pictures but until then, I figure I can at least write about our trip and put on a few pictures.
Jeff left on May 5th for Boston for a business trip. Then I flew out on thurs. May 8th to meet him. Eric, Jeff's co-worker, who was also on this business trip had his wife, Tamara, fly out also. So the four of us had an enjoyable weekend. The best weather we had was the Thursday evening I was there, the next few days were mild to moderately rainy.
On Friday morning, Jeff and Eric went off to work, while Tamara and I took the train into Boston and played the whole day. We got off the train at the "North Train" station, as we walked around the station we realized we were at "The Garden", the Celtic's home basketball court. We purchased a trolley day pass; it was a guided tour around the city that allowed us to get on and off
were ever we wanted to on the trolley route. It also included a 45 min. harbor cruise, which was great in the afternoon when the rain came. One of our favorite areas was the beautiful gardens/park. There were so many beautiful churches and buildings in that area also. We went to the cemetery where Paul Revere, Ben Franklin's parents and Mother Goose were buried. I can't remember Mother Goose's real name but she is a real person and she wrote the rhyme "Humpty Dumpty" about the English government and the rhyme was published in Benjamin Franklin's newspaper. There were others in the cemetery that key roles during the revolutionary war also.
On Friday evening, when our husbands were done working, we walked over to little Italy for dinner. We went to a restaurant called G'Vanni's, it was incredible. We will have to go to a bigger city to have such savory Italian food again.
On Saturday morning, we walked around town and went to Paul Revere's home which was quaint and cute. He had 16 children from 2 different marriages, wow!! He was a jack of all trades and master of many. We walked to the US constitution and took a tour of the boat. We then returned back to our downtown hotel to check out and head down the coast. We stopped in Plymouth and had lunch at a nice restaurant on the beach. I decided to order a lighter meal so I ordered the lobster bisque and a tuna salad. The tuna salad was listed as Tuna tar-tar with soy and ginger seasoning. I thought that should taste good, a ginger and soy tarter sauce. When the salad arrived, there was a large gelatinous scoope on top of a salad. I was wondering where the tuna was when Eric told me, that is the tuna. I didn't believe him. I tasted it. It had a strong fishy flavor with some heavy ginger and soy seasoning. Eric again tried to convince me that was the tuna. It was raw tuna and that is the texture of raw tuna. Not quite what I expected, but hey, I tried something new. I was really unable to eat it. It didn't suit my palat. Eric tried it and said it was a little overly seasoned. Tamara shared some of her salad with me and with the soup and rolls I was plenty full.
We drove on to where we got on the ferry and headed over to Martha's Vineyard. What a beautiful little island. I want to move there and raise my kids. I don't know what we would do for work though, maybe housekeeping at the resorts. We didn't have lot of time onthe island just long enough to see the beauty and desire to go back. We walked along the beach saturday evening, had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed a night in a wonderful resort. The next morning we got up and going as we had to get on the ferry at noon. The resort manager took us on a little tour of Edmundtown and then took us into Vineyard Haven. There we ate breakfast at the "Black Dog". It is a famous restaurant, similar to Hard Rock Cafe or IN and Out Burger, however, we had never heard of it, but now we can say we have been there. We did a little more shopping and then headed back to Boston. While in Boston we made one more stop at Mike's Bakery, yummmmm, and then went to the airport. I flew by myself on Delta and arrived home about 8:30pm. Tammy and the kids picked me up and we headed home. I was supposed to work that night at 1am but when I got home, Jonah was not feeling well. He informed me he had thrown-up 5 times at Aunt Laura's house early that day. ( Poor Laura, I'm sure that was the highlight of her mother's day.) Jeff thought he would be stuck in Chicago that night due to late flights resulting in missed connections. Tammy said she would stay the night while I worked, but when I realized Jonah was sick, I called into work. I didn't feel it fair to my child when I had been gone for 4 days to leave him all night while he was so sick. ( I am glad that is an option with my job.) The kids were so cute when I came home but I am going to blog that under a mother's day heading. Jeff and I enjoyed our short 4 days together, it was fast, we saw a lot and yet left so much more to see. Jeff wants to move to Boston whent the kids are grown. We'll see.

Glad to read some more details of your trip. It sounded like a really nice time. And kudos for trying raw tuna with your salad!
